It is very difficult to be able to resist some shopping when we travel, right? I always end up bringing something, even if it is the replacement of some product or part that I like very much. As Paulo and I left for California soon, I couldn’t help but look for some interesting stores to stop by.
Venice, which is west of Los Angeles, is one of the coolest regions there. It is in this region that one of the most incredible streets of this part of California is located: Abbot Kinney! Although this area has several super different and modern stores, I chose my 12 favorites to share with you 😉
Anyone who has watched old Los Angeles vlogs knows that we went to Happy Socks, a store specializing in socks with fun prints. However, her unit in Venice was closed. But, to our happiness, another store in the same style opened!
Fun Socks has a surreal variety of prints, the most colorful and different. They separated the designs by stripes, hearts, food, flowers, animals and polka dots. Each of these models has an even greater diversity of illustrations. If you wear this type of sock, it will be practically impossible to leave the store without taking anything!
Do you know when you walk into a store and find everything wonderful about it? The General Store is like that! They sell clothes and shoes, decorative items, kitchen items, jewelry and a part reserved only for children.
Most products follow a more minimalist and slightly rustic line, with very authentic characteristics of the brand. On the brand’s website, they claim that they seek a beautiful and functional design, always using creativity and imagination when creating the pieces.
Urbanic Paper Boutique
I love stationery and I’m sure you love it too. Entering this type of store is always fun for me. At Urbanic Paper Boutique, for example, I always fall in love with practically every piece in the store. Everything is very beautiful and cute!
One of the things I like most there is the cards to give away. They don’t just have to be given on birthdays, so when I want to send someone a gift, I always end up using one of these cards. If you are like me, buy several and keep them in storage for as long as you need 🙂
I already mentioned Huset to you in the post of decorative items in Los Angeles, but the store is so incredible that it deserved to appear in this one too. In addition to decorative items and pieces for the kitchen, the store also sells other objects for the bedrooms, bathroom, living room and outdoor areas.
I confess that the products are not very cheap, but their quality is great, not to mention that they are wonderful. Most products follow a Scandinavian and, in some cases, minimalist design. Decorative pots, for example, are cute.
The Flowerboy Project concept is slightly different from the other stores on that list. They are a mix of things: coffee, boutique and florist. The atmosphere is welcoming and perfect for those who enjoy quiet places. The decor of the place is as beautiful as the products. Most people go to the Flowerboy Project just for the coffee, but they also sell some decorative items, even pieces for the kitchen!
Brazilians are everywhere, including as store owners in Venice! Le Magazyn was created by Ana Kozak, born in São Paulo. She curates incredible products related to lifestyle, from accessories to products more geared to the home.
One of the things I like most there are the mugs with the “wing” in the shape of some pet and the ceramic bowls. Part of the store is geared only to art, with several photographs and paintings, all also for sale.
Basic clothes are never too much, right? Bassik is dedicated to this style of clothing! If you like this style or just want to have a few more basic wardrobe options, it’s worth visiting the store. Most of the pieces are made with organic cotton, which is super comfortable. The minimalist style is also reflected in the accessories. You will find bags, glasses, semi-jewelry, shoes and many other things. You can put together an entire look over there!
General turtle shop
It’s always good to go to stores that sell a little bit of everything, right? Tourtoise General, opened by the couple Taku and Keiko Shinomoto, brings different pieces and Japanese products. All products have a clean design and the production of most of them is sustainable. The brand says it is concerned with consumption and expects people to be more aware when buying something.
The pieces are super functional and the decorative items are cute. Ah, there you can also find some basic accessories, like glasses, rings and necklaces. As the variety is quite large, it is worth taking a look at the entire store to see all the products.
A + R
Like Huset, A + R is also on the list that I made with decoration stores and kitchen pieces. All pieces in the store are modern, both lifestyle and home-oriented. Some decorative items even resemble parts of the production company we are assembling, such as the hanging mirrors in a circle shape. They have a very differentiated curatorship, selling products from different designers. For this reason, each product will have more than one version, which makes it easier to find something you like 😉
Anyone who loves to try new cosmetic brands cannot fail to test Aesop products. They sell products for skin, hair and body in general, always looking for the best quality cosmetics. Most of them are made with plant-based ingredients and functional packaging.
The brand has two units here in Brazil, but both are in São Paulo. In other words, if you don’t live in São Paulo and are going to Los Angeles or Venice, don’t miss the opportunity to visit Aesop!
Made on Earth
Accessories are always welcome to compose the look. A simple ring or necklace already gives a different look to a more basic outfit, doesn’t it? Made In Earth specializes in accessories with precious and semi-precious stones, all done with great precision and care.
They try to make the most of stones in all pieces, even when it is small and more delicate. Some products have a more rustic shape, while others are more polished and with a well-defined shape – just choose which one you prefer.
Burro is undoubtedly one of the best stores in Venice. Although it looks just like a stationery shop, there you can find a little bit of everything. Decorative items, books, bags, jewelry and, of course, a huge diversity of items for office, school and gift cards. Overall, the store has the face of LA – full of fun and funky products. It is also a good place to buy souvenirs 😉
