It is impossible to leave Switzerland without eating a good fondue, especially with the country’s delicious cheeses. For those who don’t know, fondue is a dish originated in Switzerland, that is, if it’s already a taste here in Brazil, just imagine the traditional recipes there! What differentiates each restaurant is the type and quality of the cheese – even the time of ripening of the product interferes with the flavor.
I selected the top five fondue restaurants in Zurich. Most of them are very traditional and you won’t see many different things, but the delicious taste is guaranteed. Everything is so delicious that even the photos will make your mouth water 🙂
Swiss Chuchi

Starting with one of the most classic places in Zurich, the Swiss Chuchi restaurant. It is a hit with tourists and locals alike. The decor is full of wooden details, in a very Swiss and cozy style. One of the most requested flavors there is Adler, which mixes four types of aged cheese.
If you want to try fondue with other ingredients, they also offer options with mushrooms, bacon and even peppers. Ah, the place has tables that are outdoors, so it’s super nice to eat at any of them when the weather is nice.
Milchbar

Despite being more of a cafe than a restaurant, Milchbar is an incredible place to visit. They have great outdoor tables, overlooking the Centralhof Monument. Another advantage is that you pay a fixed amount to eat at will. Our only job is to control ourselves so we don’t overeat and end up feeling sick, right? The traditional cheese fondue is super tasty and the location of the space makes everything even more incredible.
Chasalp

As one of the most traditional restaurants in Zurich, Chäsalp has different versions of fondue and they are all wonderful. The variety of cheeses is also huge, so city dwellers love the place.
For you to get an idea of the flavors, you will find everything from Grüyere cheese fondue to other versions of apple and tomato sauce. The restaurant is super cozy and even looks like a chalet, with wooden construction and the interior with some stone details that leave the space with a more rustic and cozy style.
The Dezaley

Le Dezaley is considered by many to be one of the best places to eat fondue in the city. Their traditional family recipe attracts countless customers every day, in addition to the environment being a grace. It is in a very old house, so the walls are more rustic and worn – the way I love it. Regarding the different versions of the dish, the two most requested are cheese with meat and cheese with mushrooms.
Fribourger Fondue Stübli

Fribourger Fonduestübli is known mainly for its gruyère cheese fondues and that of vacherin fribourgeois – both delicious. Another wonderful option is the fondue made with the mixture of these two cheeses, creating a strong and unique flavor. Like almost every traditional Swiss restaurant, the decor is based mainly on wood. The atmosphere is very simple, but the food is amazing.

I confess that I felt like trying all these fondues after writing this post! If you know more interesting places, tell me here. Ah, all the vlogs on our trip through Switzerland have already left the channel 😉
