By now, my first Airbnb traveler must be home in Ireland. He’s probably looking at his vacation photos. It happened so quickly! I have the impression that it was yesterday that I was cutting lemons to make him a small homemade lemonade. Today, I therefore wanted to give you my Airbnb review by telling you a little more about my experience as a host.
A few weeks ago, I told you how to register on Airbnb, and how I had managed the arrival of my very first traveler. But I haven’t told you yet how those two weeks went (for him and for me)! And especially if, with the hindsight that I have now, I will repeat the experience or not. But also, I wanted to share with you some tips so that everything goes as well as possible if you try the experience! So without further ado, here is my Airbnb review and what I took away from it.
Airbnb reviews: always check reviews before accepting a traveler request
Obviously at the beginning, once my ad was posted, I was a little apprehensive. It is not nothing to leave your home to someone you don’t know! Fortunately, the reviews that hosts leave with travelers (and vice versa) are there to help us make the right choice. So if I had a first piece of advice to give you, it would be the following. If you want to host trips to your home through Airbnb, always take 5 minutes to make sure the person wanting to rent your property is trustworthy and respectful of your home.
Indeed, before accepting the young Irishman’s request for accommodation, I took a look at his profile to verify that it was someone correct. After having read several recent comments left by different hosts around the world, I immediately validated his stay. In addition, he is a host himself. Which in my opinion is an advantage for a traveler. Because by being a host, we understand more easily the state of mind of the person who hosts us. And in my opinion, we tend to be more respectful.
The progress of my two weeks rental
After giving him a set of keys and slamming the door behind me, I felt a little apprehensive again. But in the end, it faded over the days. Because I realized that there was no reason for it to go badly considering all the positive experiences we had with the former hosts of this traveler. This is where I really started to relax and enjoy this freedom that was offered to me and have a really positive Airbnb review.
Everything went perfectly. I have even served two or three times as an advisor for my traveler. And honestly, it was great to be able to share my experience with a stranger. And he seemed delighted to have the advice of a real Parisian! In short, humanly, it turned out to be a very enriching experience. I was even able to ask him for advice, in case I am going to Ireland soon!
The positive Airbnb review that I had therefore strengthened as the stay of my traveler went by. I almost felt like I had left my studio to the friend of someone around me. But in any case, not to someone totally unknown.
Aribnb review: becoming a host has many advantages
In the end, my apartment did not remain empty during my vacation, someone took care of it! And that for me is a big plus. In fact, to be honest, once I knew I wouldn’t have a problem with my traveler, for me my apartment was ultimately safer because it was occupied. I even negotiated with my tenant to put some water back in my connected vegetable garden if it was missing.
And then, it was set to be a very profitable operation financially speaking. Indeed, it allowed me to make a significant additional income. And thanks to him, I was able to enjoy my vacation even more. I decided to go to Annecy, the little Venice of the Alps. And guess what, I rented an Airbnb! While what remained allowed to offer me a parachute jump !!!!! If I had to do it again, I wouldn’t hesitate a single second to become an Airbnb host! Now I will have to take responsibility for my choices, and really jump at the beginning of September in Annecy… A story… to be continued
To be honest, I even believe that thanks to my experience as an Airbnb host, I have become an even better traveler. Now that I know what it feels like to leave my home to complete strangers, I just want to be as adorable as possible to those who welcome me. There you have it, you know everything about my Airbnb review.
Ah and for the record, I young Irishman left me a small gift: a beer glass that keeps it cool, accompanied by a little note telling me that my Togo is too comfortable and that he wants the same!

- Slide in the safety instructions, the wifi code and the instructions for use of the household appliance, the TV …
- Submit a map of the city and its metro.
- Indicate where the household waste is thrown.
- Place on the coffee table for reading: city tourist guide, beautiful book, magazine.
