Paulo and I love to get to know a little about the culture of the countries we visit and as art galleries are part of Buenos Aires customs, we would not miss this opportunity, right? It has options for all tastes, from the largest and most renowned, to others smaller and “hidden” by the city. Art says a lot about the thinking and behavior of each place, which is why I find it so interesting to know at least one or two in the capital.
I made this list with the 10 most interesting art galleries there. In addition to these there are also two other major museums, the MALBA (Museum of Latin American Art in Buenos Aires) and the MNBA (National Museum of Fine Arts). There will be plenty of cultural options for you to do 😉
Ruth Benzacar is one of the most modern galleries in Buenos Aires. It seeks to give attention and focus to young Argentine artists who have different and innovative ideas. In general, they have 5 different shows a year, and in each group they mix artists already known with those new and who are still looking for space. The collection includes paintings, sculptures and photographs – it is very diverse!

FoLa is a must for anyone who loves photography. They brought together more than 200 works by different artists, including international names. The gallery has three different rooms and each one has different displays. The place is ideal for those who want to know more about Latin American photographers and appreciate the diverse looks.
Address: Godoy Cruz 2620
From the same team from Graffitimundo, which promotes urban art, Union exhibits contemporary works by Argentine and also Latin American artists. The exhibitions are super varied and appeal to all tastes. To get an idea, you will find more traditional paintings, others with asymmetrical paintings, but also graffiti and things more related to street art.
Address: Costa Rica 5929
Mum Fine Art
Maman Fine Art focuses on works that represent Argentine culture, both past and present. Like Ruth Benzacar, they promote local artists and always seek creative work. This type of project encourages and encourages many people to continue making art, which is why galleries in this style are so important. The paintings and sculptures vary according to the exhibitions and show the current scenario of art and design in the country.
Address: Av. Del Libertador 2475
This is one of the most innovative galleries, mainly because of its focus on visual art, photography and new forms of media techniques. ArtexArte has six rooms, including permanent and temporary exhibitions. They provide artists with a space to share their work and ideas, instigating everyone’s creativity with the works.
Address: Lavalleja 1062
Hollywood in Cambodia
Hollywood in Cambodia is a very different option from the others, after all, specializing in street art and graffiti. The gallery walls, for example, are filled with different and colorful graffiti. They select the best artists in the field and the exhibitions change monthly. In addition to getting to know a little more about Buenos Aires street art, you can also go to the bar at the bottom of the gallery to have an even more relaxed time.
Address: Thames, 1885
Fundacion Proa is very close to Caminito and has no permanent exhibition. They mainly focus on photography, design, visual arts and audiovisual, all with very contemporary characteristics. In addition, there is a cafe on the top floor of the building which is great for a snack and to enjoy the scenery of the place!
Address: Of. Don Pedro de Mendoza 1929
Mar Dulce Gallery
The atmosphere of Galería Mar Dulce is very small and super cozy. Both the place and the works are cute! The visits are guided and the owners or employees there explain a little about the works and artists of each one – most of them Argentines. There you can also buy some works and the prices are very affordable.
Address: Uriarte 1490
Still not so well known by tourists, Galería Ruby has exhibitions only of contemporary art and also allows the use of space for artists who want to work and create inside. They look for artists who produce original works and who generate sensitivity in some way. It is as interesting as the others and deserves even more recognition!
Address: Of. Forest 379
Did you like the seats? If you know any other gallery different from the ones I mentioned, count here! Soon we will share the vlogs of this trip with even more tips for you 😉
