Smoking is more likely to bring a cold

The study by Yale University in New Haven (USA) shows that smokers in particular are at risk of catching a cold. Study author Dr. Ellen Foxman said in an interview with the British online platform “” that many people would ingest a virus through their nose, but without becoming ill afterwards.

How did the study go?

In order to get to the bottom of the cause, Dr. Foxman and her research team intensively analyzed lung and nasal cells in the laboratory and exposed them to a virus in order to trigger a reaction.

The scientists concluded that the cells can only work against one type of virus or other negative influences. Since smokers already add toxic substances with nicotine, no protective barrier against other viruses and bacteria can be built. Smokers are therefore more prone to catching a cold.
