Dark chocolate is even better than previously thought, because it is said to promote health, strengthen the immune system and increase brain performance. We present you the brand new study from the USA.

Scientists at “Loma Linda University” in California have carefully examined the ingredients and effects of dark chocolate. To do this, they carried out extensive research. They presented this “study” in April at the “Experimental Biology 2018” research congress in San Diego.

What does the study say?

The researchers gave the study participants half a bar of dark chocolate (48 grams). This one has 240 calories. After thirty minutes, the subjects’ brain frequency was measured.

This process was repeated again after a further two hours. The US scientists were able to determine an increased brain performance. This activates cells that are responsible for the immune system.

Why was dark chocolate used in the study?

Dark chocolate is high in cocoa and this is a rich source of flavonoids. These are antioxidants. These trap free radicals in the body and can render them harmless.

Flavonoids thus support our health, especially the cardiovascular system and the brain. They also have anti-cancer and antibacterial properties.

Does every dark chocolate have such a health-promoting effect?

The researchers emphasize that it is important that the chocolate has a high cocoa content of at least 70 percent and a maximum of 30 percent organic cane sugar.

The new scientific findings confirm that the high cocoa content is decisive for a positive effect.

So far, the good effects of dark chocolate on the sugar content have been attributed, explains “Professor Dr. Lee S. Bert ”from the School of Allied Health Professionals.
