I finally got started! Indeed, some time ago, I finished filling out the registration form to become a host on Airbnb. Shortly after, I welcomed my very first traveler. Now that it’s done, I wonder why I didn’t take this step sooner. If you are like me at the start, feel like giving it a try but apprehension has taken hold, you’ve come to the right place. Because in this article I will explain how to register on Airbnb. And of course I tell you a bit about my host experience.
There are two things that made me never list my apartment on Airbnb before. First of all, I hadn’t taken a vacation for a very long time. Surely since the creation of my decoration blog, to be precise! And yes, entrepreneurship is also that! The second reason is that I didn’t know how to register on Airbnb (if I had known it was that easy). By that I mean that I was a little afraid of the paperwork, and all the time-consuming little things to do to post an ad worthy of the name: photos, description, think about the price of an overnight stay, etc. And then in fact, everything turned out to be much simpler (and fun) than I imagined.
How to register on Airbnb: the first steps
Once you have visited the Airbnb site, you must create an account. Okay until then, you will agree with me that there is nothing new. You enter the usual information. Or, you log in through Facebook, which is faster. Up to you ! If you don’t know how to register with Airbnb, I haven’t helped you too much yet, but it will come.

This account will serve you both to accommodate people, but also for yourself to benefit from the incredible offer of accommodation available for rent. To do this, simply switch from “host mode” to “traveler mode” or vice versa, depending on your needs.

How to register on Airbnb: post an ad
The first thing to do is to make sure that you have the right to list on Airbnb. I had no problem since I own it. On the other hand, if you are a tenant, it is possible that the person who owns the apartment does not agree. To avoid problems, so I strongly advise you to check this. Then it’s time to write the ad.
In this adventure, I decided to trust Airbnb 100%. So I followed, step by step, the process of putting my ad online. I didn’t have to worry about anything. I just had to rack my brains to find a description that makes travelers want to stay with me. As for the price of the night, I chose to let the algorithm do its job. Depending on supply and demand, it is therefore he who has established the appropriate price.

Of course, you don’t have to be like me. You can manage everything yourself, from A to Z. For example, you can decide to set a different price for the weekend and for the week. It’s up to you to decide !

That’s it: I’m becoming a host!
Even for the point on which I thought I had to fend for myself, the photos, I was able to have the help of Airbnb. Well it is sure that with my job, it is not the photos of my home that are missing. But I wanted to test this service and see what a trained photographer could do. Thus, for those who wish, the platform is in partnership with photographers who can come and take a picture of your accommodation so that it is in its best light for your advertisement. A great initiative which is explained in more detail on the site.
In short, the days passed after I posted my ad and it was a young Irishman who booked the apartment for his stay in Paris!
The welcome from my Irish traveler to Paris
For me, being a host means a little more than just renting my apartment to a stranger. I really welcome it. He’s like my guest. So for his arrival, I wanted to do things well, to make him feel at home. After all, that’s the spirit of Airbnb, right?

I must admit that I therefore played with my detective skills a bit. I wanted to know a little more about him in order to welcome him as well as possible. So when I discovered that he was a real foodie, I immediately knew what to offer him thanks to your many tips in the comments under my Instagram post! I opted for a homemade lemonade that I left in the fridge (with this heat, I think he will be happy). And I also took a nice box of macaroons from him.
As expected, we met on the day of her arrival for check-in. Everything went well and he seemed rather delighted with the apartment. Now we just have to hope that everything goes well during his stay! In the meantime, with what I won, I’m going to take it easy but I don’t know where yet… The next episode will follow!
