If there’s one thing I love to do on Saturdays and cool off with a series. As the addiction is great, whenever a news comes out it is great! Netflix, our best company on the weekends, launched the Jessica Jones series that month. The production is based on Marvel comics and yes, Jessica (Krysten Ritter) is a superhero who works as a private detective! Comic book fans must have seen some appearances by the girl since 2001. But it was about time to have a series of superheroes with a woman as the protagonist, right?
The cool thing is that many typical comic stereotypes like costumes and the female fetish are broken. Jessica is not only the idealized side of a heroine, in fact she doesn’t even pretend to be. The protagonist has her ups and downs, drinks yes and is disgusted with the problems that everyone goes through on a daily basis.
The villain, Zebediah Kilgrave (David Tennant), is no alien or monster, but a super manipulative guy. Everything in the series is much more realistic than what comic-inspired productions tend to be.
How about running to TV and watching some episodes this weekend?
