Losing weight is always so exhausting. Lots of exercise, a healthy diet, drinking several liters of water a day … there must be an easier option? This is where the so-called “Kilokick” comes into play. The recipe for this has been circulating on the Internet for some time. The trick should make it possible to lose one kilogram overnight. That sounds great – but can something like that really work?

How does the trick work?

The trick itself is very simple: Instead of the usual dinner, you should eat a serving of low-fat quark with two whipped egg whites, lemon juice and sweetener as you like. The body should burn fat rather than muscle overnight, and the vitamin C in lemon juice and the protein should get the metabolism going. So far, so easy.

So after I went overboard over pizza the night before, now is the time to try the trick. During the day, I ate a normal diet, ate a lot of fruit and vegetables and did sports.

Did he work?

Amazingly, yes. I’ve even lost more than a kilogram. The bad news is: Just because the scales show one kilogram less, “unfortunately, that doesn’t mean that you’ve lost a kilogram of body fat,” explains nutrition expert Christine Kikisch from Munich. Short-term weight fluctuations are quite normal and can be explained with food intake, fluid loss or intake and water retention. The good thing is that it can also explain sudden weight gains. So if you suddenly weigh two kilograms more after visiting a restaurant in the evening, you don’t have to worry at first.

Was that a long-term success?

“You should always be skeptical about short-term tips that supposedly work wonders. As far as I know, there is no such thing, ”says Christine Kikisch. The day after the next, I didn’t regain the pounds I had lost. But I also made sure to drink plenty of water and eat healthily.

What can I do instead to lose weight?

Even if the Kilokick is not a silver bullet, it is at least good for us: “Quark is a healthy food in moderation. It is important to eat well overall, ”says Christine Kikisch. A bowl of low-fat quark covers half of our protein requirements. If you want to lose weight in the long term, you unfortunately have to try the traditional way over a longer period of time. The nutrition expert recommends adding a large variety of foods with a focus on fruits, vegetables and complex carbohydrates such as whole grain products so that our metabolism is supplied. Quark is therefore well suited as a source of protein. “But there are many other sources of protein and a quark dish alone is not a balanced meal,” is Christine Kikisch’s conclusion.

This diet has shown resounding success, at least for me!
