Kit Kat of green tea and other flavors

Not long ago, Kit Kat started circulating on the market shelves here in Brazil. To be more precise, it was in July 2011 that the wafer bars covered with milk chocolate returned here. And it was at that time that I tried Nestlé’s best-selling chocolate. Do I have to say it was passion at the first bite?
I remember (very much) the Easter of last year, when my grandfather gave boxes of 1 kg of Kit Kat to each of the grandchildren. How good it was!
But today’s text is about the surprise I got to know that since 2000, Japan has produced more than 200 different types of Kit Kat. So far so good. What if I tell you they are not normal flavors, like milk chocolate, white or caramel? To start little by little: Cheesecake, Raspberry, Wasabi and Green Tea. Aren’t you impressed? So how about knowing that one of the best sellers there is the Shoyu Sauce flavor? It also has the famous Grilled Corn, Beans, Baked Potatoes, Apple Cider Vinegar …

Japan has many provinces, each with a particular taste. It’s almost like here, where differences in taste change from state to state. Well then. Some flavors are only sold in certain provinces, such as Mango, sold in the extreme south of the country, in Okinawa. However, if you want to eat a melon, you would have to travel to Hokaido, northern Japan. Despite the immense variety, Nestlé keeps around 20 types of Kit Kat in circulation, since the Japanese are eager for news . When the fever for a flavor passes, soon another one appears to replace it.

This week, I had the opportunity to try Green Tea (I got it from my bank manager, in a conversation about travel and Japan). I kept the package and took it home, with a little fear. After a while, I opened the package and bit the stick. Here are my reactions to the saying whose:
First reaction: “Wow, it’s really green.”
Second reaction: “It tastes like white chocolate but it’s not really sickeningly sweet …”
Third reaction: “Ah, now I felt green tea. The wafer crunch mixes with the tea pieces… Man, this is very good! ”

It was fun to try this flavor, because it is light and not so sweet and, come on, it has its healthy dose. I loved it!
Too bad in Brazil there is no Kit Kat of Green Tea, or other flavors. It would be cool to taste those more exotic, right?
