Have you ever thought about what differentiates green tea from matcha? Both are made from the same plant, the Camellia sinensis, which is also responsible for black tea and white tea. During the cultivation of matcha leave the plant at least 90% of the time in the shade, when close to harvest. Therefore, in green tea and matcha there is the presence of caffeine, antioxidants, carotene and substances that prevent heart, circulatory and even cancer. In addition to the thermogenic function, it is highly recommended for anyone who wants to burn some calories. The difference is in the potential of these effects and the fact that matcha has a more delicate flavor – different from green tea, which has a more bitter characteristic.
Thus, you can’t say which is the best. What happens is that the effects of one are more present by the greater concentration and purity. The benefits are remarkable and scientifically proven – and so are the side effects. That is, for people who have anxiety, insomnia or hypertension problems, the increased amount of caffeine will not be a good idea.
HOW TO MAKE
To do the green tea the best is to make the infusion: boil the water until it starts to bubble. In another container, place the dry leaves (maximum 2 tablespoons for each liter). Add hot water, cover and let steep for about 5 minutes. The longer you leave it, the stronger the tea becomes 🙂
To do the matcha there are some forms and “rituals”. The simplest of them is simply to dissolve the powder in hot water. Place a teaspoon of the powder in a container, add hot water and stir well to form the foam. Ah, you can also use matcha in recipes, like in this roll and cheesecake.
Teas have effects and they can be good or bad, depending on who is going to consume them. And more: although they are great for health, they work as medicines.
