The first official day of fashion shows at Paris Fashion Week 2020 came to give us that anxiety of the looks for spring / summer 2021. The inspirations for the catwalks are filled with women’s stories from the creators. Jacquemus, Dior, Ralph & Russo and other brands brought a lot of class and boldness to the shows.
The message about the creations has been given, now it’s time to remember the history and classic fashion, but also to show a lot of power and boldness with the colors, shapes and compositions. That is, a lot of glamor and daring, all together. Check out the selection I prepared for us to stay tuned to trends.
Jacquemus: the use of simple and bold fabrics in accessories
The inspiration for the fashion show at Paris Fashion Week 2020, called O 1997, by Jacquemus, is beautiful: this was the year when the designer made a linen curtain a skirt for his mother. The result of the collection is an intense parade of minimalist monochromatic pieces made of linen and mesh. Simon Porte Jacquemus stated that he believes that you can have a lot of style using few fabrics, and that is the point of this show. In addition, of course, many accessories and bold cuts, to give that touch more glamorous to the look.
The pieces are neutral and minimalist, which values the versatility of the look and also calls for bolder cuts (super necklines and lots of skin on display, yes it can!). The use of monochromatic compositions in the entire production gives space to include very bold and even fun accessories. Micro bags, huge pouches, double belts, square bracelets and even a pendant / earring in the shape of a very famous bag from the brand.
It is worth remembering that this is the only parade that did not happen during the first day of PFW, but we could not miss it!
Boutique: lightness and brightness, all together with a lot of glamor
The Greek warrior woman was the inspiration for the brand to focus all its creation on the feminine strength and our creative power! Talismans, peacock feathers embroidered on an evening dress and VERY GOLD are the highlights of this year’s Dior fashion show.
So, what attracts the most attention are the metallic fabrics, with a lot of shine and that chic look. I loved it, I want to see everything lit up! The pieces with fringes, light fabrics and delicacy bring the balance to this whole brightness and, of course, this magical and mythological atmosphere inspired by the Greek goddess. The accessories also tell a lot of history and bring a lot of personality with the braids.
Ulyana Sergeenko: candy color and disco
Here is the time to take that look and go to the party all worked on sweetness. The inspiration for the collection is feathers and candy colors. Yes, it’s free to enter the fantasy world of the candy factory and play.
The looks also give you that desire to play in the ballads and all the parties possible – all thanks to the half disco vibe present throughout the parade.
Ralph & Russo: feathers, shall we?
The inspiration for this show at Paris Fashion Week 2020 was a tribute to Australia, the birthplace of the brand’s creators. Here, plumaaaaaas (shocked and lively) appear, and also embroidery.
The proposal here is to use these elements in a more classic way, using in this contrast between the modern and the classic, and vibrant and pastel colors. Satin also appears as one of the most popular fabrics, especially in dresses. Here is brightness and volume that never ends!
Schiaparelli: dress with blazer suits?
Here the main point is the questions that the stylist makes to the stereotypes of femininity: he explores the dualities of this universe – the strength and the glamor, the ambition and the sexuality.
The catwalk brings a mixture of more fluid fabrics with more straight and structured models, like tailoring – you know that suit that is standing there in the closet? You can put it to play with very fresh and light pieces!
So, what were your first impressions of Paria Fashion Week 2020? I confess that I’m excited with so much metallic, feathers and flat shoes (comfort is EVERYTHING!)
