Mon Vieil Ami is one of those restaurants that is a box of good surprises. Every time I went there (and there were many), I was never disappointed with anything I ate. From starter to dessert everything is very good and well made with fresh and simple ingredients. The menu always changes, so there’s no way I can tell you what to eat, but don’t be afraid, order whatever comes to your head, because it will be impeccable.
Mon Vieil Ami is in one of the most tourist spots in Paris, and is usually full, so it’s always a good idea to make a reservation. If you go for lunch, even better, because afterwards you can walk a little along the banks of the Seine or go to Notre Dame and digest it.This last time I went, as we are in the strawberry season, they served a dessert more than simple and quick, which you can make at home and I will teach you how:
- Take 100 grams of strawberries, wash, remove the leaves and process with a sugar dessert spoon until you take a puree. Go through a sieve to make it very smooth.
- Toast 30 grams of flaked almonds.
- Assemble the dish by placing the strawberry puree on the bottom, add sliced strawberries in two on top of the puree, then make 3 whipped cream roses on the plate, place a scoop of cream ice cream in the middle and the toasted almonds on top.
- Serve immediately.
This is one of the easiest, most delicious desserts that impress when serving.
