Our First Impression of Norway

Our First Impression of Norway

Everyone has that country that they dream of getting to know. Paulo and I, for example, had a great desire to visit Norway. So, we were super excited when we received the invitation to travel around the country and still visit different cities.
As a first stop, we went to Røros, a commune with just over 5,000 inhabitants. If you want to get a sense of airfare prices just click here. The city it was an old mining town, declared by UNESCO years later as a World Heritage Site. Right away, we were delighted with the location. Each house is unique and the architecture of all of them is very charming, which makes all the streets a grace.
The hotel we stayed at was the
The guesthouse Røros. It is divided into two “blocks”, the first of which is a smaller inn and the second is inside an old fabric factory. This first part of the site was built with old materials to try to recreate a space similar to what used to occupy this area, but which ended up being burned in 1960. We stayed in the fabric factory and we really liked the accommodation. The room was very spacious and super equipped – it even had a fan in the kitchen utensils!

Another thing that caught our attention was the value of our expenses. Despite already knowing that
Norway is an expensive country for us, we were surprised by the prices. A taxi ride of 8 minutes gave 200 Norwegian kroner, which would be approximately 88 reais. That is, if you plan to go there, be prepared to give up a good amount of money.
Even though it was Sunday and a lot was closed, we stopped by the market to buy some junk food. I confess that it is a little difficult to choose the products, since we do not understand much of what was written, but we were lucky! Then we’ll record a video tasting some of these products for you. We took the opportunity to go to an area where the old mines were and we had a beautiful view of the city.

To end the day, we have dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. Both Paulo and I were surprised by the food. I was happy that they had two vegetarian options on a menu with a total of 5 dishes. I opted for a
veggie burger it was very tasty and Paulo asked pork neck meat, which also pleased him a lot.
As we used the first day just to take a walk around the village and explore the region, we ended up doing a lighter program. If you want to see our full experience there, just watch the vlog!
