I know that A Redonda Forneria is known for its pizzas, and until very recently, for about 2 months, the space really worked only as a pizzeria that only opened after 6 pm. After a few disappointing days at the Troia restaurant, inside the DPNY Hotel, I asked the waiter what had happened to the quality of the chef’s food, which has always been so good. He replied that chef Renata Raikov no longer worked at Tróia and recommended me to go to lunch at Redonda, which she now commanded the kitchen at that time.
How great that I got this tip! I went to lunch at Redonda the next day and during the rest of the days I stayed in Ilhabela, I came back yet again to taste their menu. Simple and reduced menu, with few options and always fresh products, which in my opinion is one of the things that manages to maintain the quality of a small restaurant. Everything perfect! Freshly made pasta, the meat tender and in the right spot and… the olive tapenade… hmm! I was hungry just to remember.
The dessert arrives: Panna Cotta of coconut, perfect, in the exact consistency… As “aunt” Nigella would say: “with the consistency of the thighs of an 18th century courtesan”… I loved it !! I also tried Pêra ao Vinho with cream ice cream, all done right there !!
Chef Renata is more than to be congratulated and can be sure that whenever I return to Ilhabela I will look for where she is, as this place will be the perfect harmony between taste and competence of those who know what they are doing!
Redonda is located at Av. Riachuelo, 6852 – Ilhabela !! Remember to go at lunch, which is when Renata is there doing her magic!
