Whoever saw our last vlog in Panama must have noticed my dazzle at NINA. I don’t even know how I can begin to describe the store, which, incidentally, is also a restaurant. The place already calls attention for the cute decoration: there is a staircase with dog paws – which are allowed in the place -, led with a cute phrase, a burnt cement floor, stationery and children’s toys scattered in various corners… You know when you don’t even know where to look

The place is open from Tuesday to Sunday and the opening hours are from 9 am to 6:30 pm – except on Sundays when it is only open until 5 pm. As I said, NINA also has a restaurant and you don’t think it’s just a simple cafe, okay? It is a restaurant that serves great options for brunch and lunch.

As I love eggs with very soft yolks, I couldn’t resist and ended up asking Boss eggs. In addition to the perfect fried egg for my taste, the dish also came with chili, avocado mayonnaise, beans, salsa and a delicious tortilla. This is one of those well-served and untraditional brunchs, perfect for a busy day at the end of the trip 😉

Paulo started with a typical dish: the famous Carimañolas with chicken. This Panamanian dish is a cassava dough called Yuca stuffed with meat or chicken and cheese. Although he didn’t try many versions of this dish, he loved the crunchy texture on the outside and ultra-soft on the inside. The shredded chicken was also great, very well seasoned.

As one dish was not enough, it is clear that Paulo was the most different option he found on the menu. Those who follow the travel vlogs know that his breakfasts are absolutely nothing obvious and it’s a really crazy mix, haha 😉
THE Typical breakfast it comes with a small portion of everything you need most in the morning: fried egg, pressed corn tortilla (which resembles a very crunchy polenta), avocado, cheese and even onion meat.

Of course, after filling my belly and even with the tight time for the return flight, I managed to do a little shopping. Definitely, the part I loved the most was the children’s toys. Everything has a vintage touch, you know? Cloth dolls, wooden toys, playful pieces … It’s cute!
There you will also find decorative items, stationery, women’s and men’s accessories, shoes, books, table and kitchen accessories … It’s really a world of possibilities!
