We are all probably familiar with sleepless through the night. After all, almost 80 percent of all Germans have problems sleeping at night. But there are delicious sleep aids that are the best recipe for sleepless nights.

How awful are those nights when you turn from side to side and sleep just doesn’t want to come? At some point everything just hurts, you get up, only to try to fall asleep again moments later. You don’t want to think about the next day at all, it’s for the cat anyway. You will probably be so knocked out that you have to take a nap in the afternoon and then the next night the sleepless game starts all over again …

However, there are simple aids to falling asleep against this awakened nightmare: Drink to fall asleep better! Not with a glass of water and a handful of tablets, of course, but with our recipes for delicious drinks that really make you tired.

Sleep Aid No. 1: Grandmas Slumber milk

Heat a large cup of milk in the microwave or in a saucepan. Now stir one Tablespoons of honey in it and a pinch of cinnamon and a pinch of nutmeg. Then you heat the mixture again for a minute. That makes for sweet and, above all, quick dreams.

Sleep aid No. 2: cocoa with cherry

Prepare yourself a hot cup of your favorite cocoa. It doesn’t matter whether you use a powder or one of these fancy chocolate cubes. The main thing is that it tastes really good like chocolate. Now add four centiliters of sour cherry juice. Sour cherries? Read that right, because they contain the sleep hormone melatonin and make you really tired. In addition, your drink tastes like a Black Forest cherry cake. Hmmmmm!

Teas have a calming effect and help you fall asleep better. However, you don’t get the best mix ready, you just mix it yourself. You need 50g valerian root, 25g dried hops, 10g St. John’s wort, 25g lemon balm leaves and 5g passion flower. Three tablespoons of this mixture poured over 200ml of hot water after ten minutes of brewing results in a tea that will send even the biggest caffeine junkie on the boards. If the taste is too bitter for you, you can add a tablespoon of honey.

Sleep aid No. 4: Our liquid sleep muesli

Perhaps oat milk is not to everyone’s taste; But when enjoyed lukewarm it makes you quite tired. If you then puree a not too ripe banana into the milk, you will get the perfect nightcap. Because bananas are rich in tryptophan, a substance that causes your body to release more of the sleep hormone serotonin. So: Mix oat milk and banana well in a mixer and then gently heat them on the stove. We’ll say good night already!
