Technology, music and cinema: SXSW Festival

If you haven’t seen it on snap (daniellenoce), insta (@nocedanielle) or right here on the blog, Paulo and I are in Austin, the capital of Texas, to follow the festival South by Southwest, better known as SXSW.

The event mixes music, cinema and interactivity / technology. In addition to the subjects being incredible, the festival brings together thousands of representatives of companies to participate in several lectures, shows, parties … This year alone there are 6,000 activities in the 10 days of programming – and it starts today!
Austin is really invaded by thousands of people from all over the world. The city, which has a little more than 1 million inhabitants, has always been super receptive – since the beginning of the event, in 1986. The streets are hyper-crowded, the bars then … You can see that it is a great deal for the local economy!

In the early years, film and music were the biggest hits. Alternative and little-known bands from the general public performed there – and that certainly helped a lot to leverage their career.
Already in the late 1990s and 2000s many artists rocked there: Franz Ferdinand, James Blunt, The Strokes and John Mayer were just a few of them.

The technology and interactivity part started to be even more successful since 2000. To get an idea, Twitter was launched at SXSW 2007 and Foursquare in 2009. The festival is really an incredible place to present innovative ideas and a lot creativity!

We are going through Youtube Brasil and I can’t wait to see what awaits us. Well, to begin with, who will carry out the opening is none other than President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle!
Whoever wants to know more about the event just access the website or read this super detailed text in Portuguese by Carlos Vilela, founder of Unplanned.
