With delicious food and charming streets, Lisbon conquers anyone who passes by. Both the sights of the city and the most hidden corners and known mainly by locals – everything is extremely beautiful and historic. Most tours can only be done using public transport or walking, as I told you in the post with general tips from Lisbon.
Because the days are very long and with a lot of walking, there’s nothing better than arriving at a cozy hotel, right? With that in mind, Paulo and I have already started selecting some of the best hotels in the city, as we will be going there this year. I made a list of my favorites for now and I came to share with you what they are 😉
AlmaLusa Baixa / Chiado
With only 28 rooms, AlmaLusa is one of the most highly recommended hotels in Lisbon. In addition to having an elegant and modern decor, it occupies a super historic building in the city – an 18th century building! His appearance also has some more classic features that make the environment more authentic and original.
The hotel’s restaurant tends to be very successful with the staff who stay there. They serve delicious typical food from the country and a very wide list of wines and drinks. Ah, his location is also great. It is less than 1 km from Praça do Comércio and Arco da Rua Augusta.
Memmo Príncipe Real
Despite being little explored by tourists, the Príncipe Real neighborhood is one of the most beautiful. It is more residential and without so many tourist attractions, but perfect for those who want to stay in a peaceful and beautiful place. Memmo Príncipe Real is undoubtedly one of the best options in this region, so be sure to take a look at their website.
The design of the hotel is very modern and contemporary, and the 41 rooms have been decorated with great care so that the client makes the most of the experience of staying in it. As it is a very calm area, the neighborhood is perfect for walking, especially if you like to know the surroundings of your accommodation.
The Lisbonaire Apartments
Renting a small apartment can also be a great alternative for those who want a more intimate space with a very modern decor. If you are interested in this type of accommodation, one of the best in this style is The Lisbonaire. The place has 19 apartments, all of which have been decorated by Portuguese designers, each with its own style and originality.
Another positive side of these apartments is that they all have kitchens. I confess that I never make food when I travel, but it is a good option for those who want to prepare their own food or snacks. Several subway stations are close to the building, that is, you will also have a great facility in getting around the city.
Casa das Janelas with View
Each of the 12 rooms at Casa das Janelas com Vista have been individually decorated, with details that make each accommodation unique. The environments are all super modern and with some objects that transform the environment, such as wooden cabinets, velvet armchairs or more different vintage pieces.
The size of the rooms varies widely. Some are small, but their price is also much more affordable. In addition, their location is wonderful. It is located in Bairro Alto, one of the most historic and visited regions of the city. Perfect for those who want to stroll through various tourist places, right?
LX Boutique Hotel
The decor of the LX Boutique Hotel is a bit peculiar, with different colors and a more classic feel. However, this is what makes the hotel so different and unique. It has 45 rooms, so it has slightly higher availability than other boutique hotels in the city, which usually have a maximum of 20 accommodations.
One of the things that most please customers about it is the location. Located in Cais de Sodré, the region is full of amazing shops, restaurants and bars. Ah, the hotel is one of the only ones in the city overlooking the Tagus River. If you care about the view from the room, I highly recommend the superior room overlooking the river!
Altis Belém Hotel and Spa
The Altis Belem Hotel and Spa is one of the most beautiful and modern hotels on this list. It is super luxurious, so it is much more expensive when compared to other hotels. Still, his service is highly praised and the location is surreal – on the banks of the Tagus River. Almost all accommodations have views of the river, making the experience of staying there even more enjoyable.
For a very sophisticated lunch or dinner, just stop by Feitoria Restaurant. It is inside the hotel and the chef of the house works with high quality ingredients, offering the best of Portuguese cuisine to customers. If you don’t really care about the price you will spend, this is one of the best hotels in the city.
Santiago de Alfama
Also located in a historic building in the city, Santiago de Alfama transformed an old atmosphere into a 5-star hotel in Lisbon. Each of the 19 rooms has very different sizes, as they must respect the building’s standard rooms, as it is a historic structure.
The decoration of the rooms is simpler and follows a minimalist line, you know? For those who don’t like rooms full of decoration and with more neutral colors, Santiago de Alfama is ideal. The Chiado neighborhood is very close to the hotel, take the opportunity to get to know the whole region 😉
Hotel Fontecruz Lisboa
Another very modern hotel with rooms decorated in a very contemporary style is Fontecruz Lisboa. I believe that this is one of the hotels with the most authentic decor. The rooms are almost all minimalist, with few decorative elements. Still, the few things that make up the environment leave the space a grace.
It is a little bigger than the boutique hotels, with 72 rooms. But, this increases the chances of you finding a room available for your travel date. As it is close to Avenida da Liberdade and other tourist attractions, the hotel is very popular with people who enjoy staying in the center.
On the banks of the Tagus River, in the Alfama district, is the Eurostars Museum. Like most hotels in Lisbon, it is located in a historic building in the neighborhood. However, its interior surprises visitors, as it is a very modern environment with an elegant and innovative decor.
Virtually all rooms follow the same theme, so they are not very different from each other. Be sure to also try their restaurant. The local food is highly praised and the menu is very diverse.
Last but not least, the Governor’s Palace. If you want to feel, in a way, like Portuguese royalty, you can book a room there. It is one of the most classic hotels in the city, also overlooking the Tagus.
His differential is that all environments, both external and internal, are the face of Portugal. It has a bit of everything: old structures, blue tile decorations and classic objects are scattered throughout the hotel. In addition, it is close to the Belém Tower and the Belém Cultural Center. That is, you will have many options for incredible tours around it.
All hotels are super comfortable and I have read a lot of good things about them all. Now, just choose which one you prefer and make your reservation! Be sure to consider the price of each one compared to the location, especially if you want to be close to the city center 🙂
