To start another day of sightseeing in St. Petersburg, our starting point was the Cococo. Paulo and I heard a lot of compliments about the place, so we couldn’t stop visiting one of the best restaurants in town, huh? They do incredible vegetarian and vegan dishes, so it’s a good option if you don’t consume meat and meat products.
I asked for a gazpacho carrot with stracciatella and sunflower seed, which was wonderful. Gazpacho is a type of soup that is usually made with tomatoes, but they dared a little in the preparation using carrots as the main ingredient. I ended up eating a slice ofpumpkin with fruit seeds and gorgonzola cheese mousse. Despite being a simple dish, it was delicious. Paulo also loved his dish, which was a “porridge” with meat.
I confess that dessert disappointed us a little, but it still deserves mention. The presentation of the one chosen by us, called “My mom’s favorite flower”, imitated a fallen flower vase. It was really cute! However, we didn’t find it very tasty – we couldn’t even find out what it was made of. Still, I highly recommend the restaurant, since everything we ordered before was very tasty and well seasoned 😉
The second stop of the day became one of my favorite places on the trip. THE Museum of Soviet arcade machines it’s a place full of arcade machines and other types of games. The differential of this space is that everything in it has a footprint vintage, with objects from the time of the Soviet Union. Paulo and I had a lot of fun discovering each type of game and getting to know a little old Russian toys from the 70s and 80s.
I venture to say that it is the coolest place in St. Petersburg – it was really an amazing experience! THE entrance cost 450 rubles, approximately 25 reais. For you to have a beautiful memory of this tour, be sure to go to Photo booth inside the “museum”. The sequence of photographs taken by her is a grace and is ready in 10 minutes. No instant and colorful printing, after all, the charm of the machine is the fact that it is old!
Impossible to leave St. Petersburg without having known the Cathedral of the Spilled Blood, Is not it? It is considered one of the main landmarks of the city, mainly because it was built in the place where the Tsar Alexander II from Russia was murdered in 1881. Her structure is just wonderful. All domes are different from each other and every detail is super delicate and well done.
Her interior is also surreal! At walls are covered by mosaics made with tiny stones. My first impression when entering the church was to think that everything was painted. The surprise came when I got close enough to see every little detail of that giant puzzle.
To enter the church / museum, it is necessary to pay 400 rubles (more or less 22 reais). It is not very expensive, especially if we take into account the money needed to preserve the cathedral. In my view, the place is a mandatory stop for everyone who visits the city, regardless of religion 🙂
After a full day walking around St. Petersburg, we decided to have dinner at the hotel we stayed at. The restaurant Astoria count with one of the most awarded pastry chefs in Russia, which made me even more excited to try the local dessert. Compared to the Cococo soup, the one I ordered at Astoria was much less spicy, but it was still delicious. Paulo loved his dish – one of the Russian versions of Beef and cream. This time, the meat and the cream they came in a little pot separate from the mashed potatoes!
THE caviar you can’t be left out of our menu in Russia either, right? Paulo tasted four different types among the possibilities of the restaurant menu. The darkest roe are the most expensive, not least because they are sturgeon, one of the largest fish in the world. Different types of vodkas accompany each type of caviar. However, Paulo did not feel much difference in their flavor: /
Now I’m going to talk about the star of the night – the dessert! The pastry chef Yulia Ivanova prepares the sweets with impressive delicacy. Besides, her creations are the ones that make you want to eat right now, you know?
The delight chosen by me had the shape of a jewelry box. The structure was made with white chocolate and filled with strawberry and cranberry mousse. At the bottom of the “box” you are surprised by a puff pastry with wonderful apple jam. This whole mixture of textures and flavors reminded me of Apple strudel. Still, the taste of the dessert was unique and super authentic!
Wow complete experience St. Petersburg is already in the channel. In the last video you will even count on the presence of the straight blogger that we love so much. Soon more vlogs about other parts of Russia come in, so be sure to keep an eye on my Instagram to stay on top of news 😉
