The Strangest Russian Foods

Going to a totally different country and not trying some weird foods doesn’t work very well for us, after all, both Paulo and I like to surprise us with new flavors and textures. Okay, maybe this time we overcame ourselves – especially Paulo, who tried some of the strangest snacks we’ve ever seen!
In total, there were 25 bizarre foods with a few (few) exceptions. My favorite had to be a more classic sweet, right? The waffle tubes with chocolate and caramel unfortunately they had no brand (they were from the market bakery we visited). Paulo loved the Crab Pringles – that’s right, you didn’t read the wrong flavor 😉

In fact, crab, octopus and fish appeared on the market a lot. As I’m a vegetarian, I got rid of trying the weirdest possible choices like salted and dried fish that even Paulo couldn’t swallow. The fact is that he did not experience these “delights” in the right way: it is necessary to clean, remove the scales and cut the fish into thinner strips. There they eat this way as a kind of snack that is served with beer, so if you are brave enough to taste it, already know how it should be done 😉
Another food that we ate in a “wrong” way was marinated mushroom. Although I already imagined that we shouldn’t eat that “raw” way, it was only in a restaurant in Moscow (which you will soon discover in the vlogs) that we discovered the true taste of this wonder. As you might imagine, the mushrooms there were clean, cut and served with rock onion, smetana and dill!

And speaking of smetana, one of the best items we bought was smetana with honey – a sweet drink and, like everything with smetana (a type of sour cream), delicious! Honey, by the way, is one of the great passions of Russians and as we show on this vlog, there is a huge variety of product options 😉
Food is so loved that it even exists honey flavored snacks. I confess that I found it very strange when I saw the packaging, but isn’t it that the business is strangely good? And still in this wave of “sweet” snacks, I couldn’t help taking the Strawberry flavor to the hotel, but it wasn’t worth it, okay?

I’ve talked a lot about the weirdest Russian foods in the video, but you’re probably looking to see our reactions on video by tasting each one, right? The program is already on the channel and I left it separate down here 😉
