More than the breathtaking scenery and delicious food, the island of Mallorca is also known for its traditional fabric: Language tongues or language clothes. The fabric is one of the great brands of the island and, as you may remember, right on the first day of the trip I fell in love with it.

The fabric is thicker than we are used to, but this feature makes it last much longer. Because they are thicker, the Majorca fabrics take a long time to get dirty and for that very reason they are excellent options for decoration 😉

The Teixits Vicens factory is one of the most famous on the whole island and has been in operation since 1854. The wool is made using only natural fibers: 70% cotton and 30% linen. We can feel the difference in touch, really.
Despite its eastern origin, the dyeing technique necktie it is very characteristic of the Mallorca region. In it, the threads are dyed (in parts) before being woven. The result is a more faded and very beautiful pattern!

Blue fabrics predominate on the island, but you can also find them in other colors like green, yellow and red. In fact, it is important to remember that there are many places that imitate the famous Lenguas Mallorquinas, so it is always better to turn to traditional factories to find the original.
