Disney is a magical place for everyone, no matter what age! I visited Disneyland in California, more specifically in Anaheim, in 2015 and was delighted by the place. Every detail of Mickey’s city is cute and it seems like a lie, everything is very perfect!
In fact, this Disney park was the first in the world and was supervised by Walt Disney itself during its construction. For me, this makes the place even more special, because we know that each corner was approved by the creator. Paulo and I spent just one day there and had a lot of fun, so I separated some topics for you to stay tuned and enjoy the tour 🙂
Buy tickets first through the Disneyland website, without leaving to buy when you get there. It is better to take the time to walk around than to waste it in lines to buy the tickets, right? You can buy tickets for up to 5 days and another option is Park Hopper, which allows you to enter two parks on the same day.
When you get there, your first sight will be Main Street, which is nothing more than the visitor’s reception. It takes you to other parts of the park, such as Fantasyland, the most classic area of Disney, as this is where the Sleeping Beauty Castle is located – which is even more enchanting when you see it up close.
The other areas are Frontierland, Adventureland, Tomorrowland, Mickey City, New Orleans Square and Critter Country. All Disneyland regions have features that make them unique, so be prepared to fall in love with the beauty of the park!
Not to get lost
Disneyland is huge and full of similar streets, so it is very easy to get lost there. For that not to happen, you can get a map right at the entrance, in the customer service section. You also have the option of the Disney app, which in addition to showing the map, also lists the restaurants and waiting times for the toys.
Having a better sense of where the attractions are, you will not spend time that could be used to have fun trying to find yourself inside the park 😉
Eating inside the parks is a little expensive, but trying at least one restaurant is worth it. We had lunch at Blue Bayou and loved the food and the decor. Most restaurants are themed, and a simple meal becomes something quite different. I chose to eat a lighter grilled chicken, Paulo chose a sandwich stuffed with turkey breast and Bacon – we love them both.
If you want to save money, just go to a market the day before and make some snacks, but don’t take anything in excess to keep your bag too heavy!
Disney California Adventure Park
Adventure Park, as it is usually called, is opposite Disneyland Park and is also part of the Walt Disney company. The park has several attractions and anyone who likes a roller coaster will love going to the California Screamin – one of the most popular toys there. You better go to a park a day, so you don’t have to visit them both.
As the park’s audience is very varied, there are attractions for different tastes and ages. Some options are Space Montain, Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Splash Montain, which was one of our favorites. Paulo and I went only to Disneyland Park, so we only used the toys there, but the Disney California Adventure also offers several other attractions and I’m sure you will like them!
Disney parks are almost always full and often the toys we most want to go to have giant queues. But there is a secret that helps a lot: the fastpass! It works like a line breaker and you get in before the people in the normal line, that is, it’s wonderful! To catch an attraction’s fastpass just look for a ticket machine, and they are usually close to the attractions.
And to use it is super simple: basically you enter a different queue and, before entering the toy, show the ticket! Instead of waiting for hours in line, you will be able to quickly enter the attraction of your choice. Ah, an important tip: it can only be used 3 times a day and at intervals of time 😉
Get there early in the park
Getting there early may seem to make no difference, but it changes the way you enjoy the day a lot. The park is packed and forms huge lines, so get in as soon as it opens and take the opportunity to go to the most popular attractions soon. Also, wear very comfortable clothes to endure all day, because you will walk a lot!
Shopping can be a task loved by some and hated by others, but it is impossible to leave Disney without buying even a souvenir. Souvenirs are sold in several shops around the park. If you want a specific movie or character just look for a toy related to it, because at the end of every attraction you are faced with a small shop.
The Disneyland Park night show is called Fantasmic and it tells the story of a Mickey’s dream in an untraditional way. Along the attraction there are fireworks, lights, projections, music and, of course, several characters.
For those at Adventure Park, there is the World of Colors, which is also a show of light and colors. Both shows are incredible and must-see. They take place at night, but make sure you check each one’s schedule when you go there!
Is this a great tour option for those in LA? Anyone who wants to check out our day there just watch the vlog 😉
