Traveling to the United States requires two essential documents: the visa and the passport. In the case of a passport, it must be requested by the Federal Police and must have a minimum validity of 6 months. As for the visa, it is necessary to place an order online and also schedule an interview.
All data you enter in these forms must be correct, otherwise the request may be refused. In order not to have any problems during immigration, it is also good to bring a proof of accommodation and return ticket 😉

Best time of year to go

The weather in Los Angeles is pleasant at any time of the year. In the months of July, August and September the place is full of tourists and in some days a fog covers parts of the city, diminishing the charm of certain tourist spots.
In the months of November, December and January, the temperature is milder and if your intention is to enjoy a beach, this is not the best option. In April, May, September and October the weather is pleasant and it is not a peak season, so it is a great time to visit the place.

Only people over 21 can consume alcohol, so don’t be alarmed if you have to present your passport if you want a drink. In addition, drinking is prohibited on the streets, beaches and inside the car, even if you are a passenger. In Los Angeles, many ballads and shows allow only those over 21 years of age to enter, even though the 18 to 20 year old is already classified as over 18.

Knowing the city in addition to the sights is essential, as there are many interesting things that can be done in LA One way to escape the traditional itinerary is to take a gastronomic tour, getting to know the local cuisine and also enjoying the food trucks.
Unlike what is expected by most people when they go to the United States, Los Angeles offers several options of restaurants with healthy foods. I love the Lemonade and Farm Shop salads because, in addition to being fresh and delicious, the latter has a grocery store that sells natural foods. I also highly recommend Gjelina, the perfect restaurant for sharing delicious food with friends, and the Food Lab.
As you know, I am the ice cream freak and as the Los Angeles climate is perfect for this wonder, I could not fail to mention my favorite ice cream shop there: the Salt & Strow!

Los Angeles is a huge city with tourist spots away from each other. Renting a car makes it easy to get around and allows you to discover more places around the city, such as Santa Monica and San Diego. For this, it is necessary to have a Brazilian driver’s license and passport. One of the best companies to book your car is RentCars. If you want to take a look at their website to book your car, just click here!
Be sure to take out insurance that covers the basics, like car crashes or theft. The minimum age allowed to drive is 21 years old, and between 21 and 24 years old, rental companies charge an extra fee, taking into account that the tendency to accidents in this age group is higher. To learn more about renting a car abroad, take a look at the specific post on renting a car abroad 😉

Prices for food, clothing and other objects do not include tax rates, so the amount charged at the cashier will be 10% more expensive. These fees are included at the time of payment and you have no choice, they must be paid! So don’t forget to pay attention to the prices and always add the tax to know what the total value of your purchase will be.

Outdoor tours

As the weather in Los Angeles is always pleasant, you can take the opportunity to take several outdoor walks. I love walking around Abbot Kinney and visiting new stores there. On that last trip, I discovered two incredible ones: the Bazaar and the Industry Of All Nations. Griffith Park is also a great alternative for walking and it provides a view of the famous Hollywood sign.
It is also cool to walk around Venice Beach, where several people go to spend the afternoon, watch the sunset and skate. Last but not least, one of the most typical tours in Los Angeles: stroll along Hollywood Boulevard, where the Walk of Fame is located.

Beaches

The beaches are different from Brazil mainly for one reason: they are bathed by the Pacific Ocean, while those in Brazil by the Atlantic. Despite the colder water, it is amazing to see how the beaches there are different, but still charming – especially in the late afternoon, when the sun goes down.
To see up close the differences between the beaches of California and those of our country, it is worth visiting Santa Monica Beach, which besides the sea as an attraction also has other leisure options. It is also worth visiting Venice Beach, Malibu and El Matador Beach.

accommodation

One of the hotels I like the mostI had to stay at The Kinney, in Venice Beach. The cost to stay there was not so expensive and the room is super comfortable. I loved the most modern decor, colorful and with cute compositions. The hotel also has leisure options, such as a pool and bar.
Regions like Santa Monica, Hollywood, West Hollywood and Beverly Hills are also excellent places to stay, because in addition to the great locations, you can easily find good hotel options.
Each of them has its charm and a different positive point. Santa Monica, for example, is by the sea. In Hollywood, the accommodations are close to several tourist attractions and there is easier access to public transportation.

Disneyland

Disneyland Park was the first Walt Disney park in the world and was designed with the supervision of its own creator, so it is essential to visit it if you are a fan or if you are traveling with children. A restaurant tip inside the complex is the Blue Bayou Restaurant – the food is delicious and the decor is beautiful 😉
